The following resources demonstrate the evolutionary thread of
environmentalism in America, specifically before Rachel Carson’s 1962 publication of
Silent Spring, and then the subsequent waves of influence this book generated and continues to generate into the 21st century. The books are featured alongside a 1960s environmental display (“Biocide: Rachel Carson and the Environmental Movement”) located in the Reference Room Corridor on the 3000 level of Booth Library.  The display, the book table, and this article publicizing them are the work of Lee Whitacre, a senior library specialist in the library’s Acquisitions Department.
